COVID19 Community Impact Fund

The Greater Green Valley Community Foundation is closely monitoring COVID19 nationally, state-wide and in Pima and Santa Cruz counties. There is still much that is still unknown, and it is a rapidly evolving situation. Our focus is on preparing and supporting nonprofits for the impact of this pandemic. Working across our community with our network of community partners, stakeholders and donors, we will provide needed financial support to meet the needs of individuals and families as well as the nonprofits who serve them.

With the assistance from the ‘Better Together Southern Arizona Coalition’, the GGVCF has established the COVID19 Community Impact Fund, with an initial $10K that will be used to support community needs in response to COVID-19. Donations to this fund will be used to provide direct support for local organizations that work with people and communities who may be most affected by COVID-19. This will likely include support for individuals and families who need access to food and/or healthcare, supplementing lost wages and/or housing costs or support for agencies who work with vulnerable populations such as seniors. 100% of donations received for this fund will be allocated to nonprofits.

Although the impact of the Covid-19 crisis is just now being felt, its affects are already evident within the community.  These include lost wages from company layoffs and furloughs, parents forced to stay home for childcare, loss of medical insurance, lack of income to pay rent or mortgages, expanded demand for supplemental food sources and other needs not yet foreseen.  Some governmental assistance will soon be forthcoming which will help but will not be enough or arrive in time to meet immediate and future needs.

Now is the time to step up and help your neighbors who are in need.  Please consider giving a donation today to help your neighbors here in Green Valley, Sahuarita, Amado and Arivaca, Tubac and Tumacacori.

If you prefer, you can mail your donation to GGVCF, P.O. Box 785, Green Valley, AZ 85622. Our physical address in Green Valley is closed due to the coronavirus but our Tubac office at La Entrada is open 2221 I-19 Frontage Rd, Suite F101 if you’d like to drop by with donation.

Applications for the Community Impact Fund from nonprofits in these areas (Sahuarita, Green Valley, Amado, Arivaca, Tubac and Tumacacori) are now being accepted on a rolling basis and will be evaluated weekly. Funding decisions will be made through an appointed advisory committee from the community.

All area nonprofits will need continued support over the coming weeks during the crisis. In addition to the support for the Community Impact Fund we encourage everyone to continue providing financial support to the broad range of causes and nonprofits you care about across the community. Nonprofits are going to have an increased demand for services during and after this outbreak, as well as access to flexible, unrestricted funds that provide additional dollars to help them throughout this pandemic.
